At the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, host Russel Brand poked fun at The Jonas Brothers, who proudly wear promise rings as a symbol of their commitment to God to abstain from sex until they are married. The brothers Jonas were later defended by American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks. This talk has thrust promise rings into the spotlight lately.
